People's fascination about Hollywood marriages seemed to have been eclipsed with the growing interest on the potential breakdown of their union. The Carters, unfortunately, has not escaped worldwide scrutiny considering that they have it all - successful music careers, a growing business empire, and a beautiful daughter.

However, what looked like a strong, happy marriage has been questioned, thanks to an altercation in an elevator at a Met Gala afterparty involving Beyonce's sister Solange and her husband Jay-Z. After that, despite an initial silence and a joint released statement ensuring that all is well in the Carter-Knowles household, there have been speculations that the power couple had merely responded to protect their lucrative brand.

However, a Page Six report attempts to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the elevator altercation. According to a source, Solange's outburst was allegedly due to Jay-Z's close relationship with his protege, Rihanna. It has been said that Beyonce's sister was merely protecting her sister after she knew about the rapper-mogul's plans to meet the "Diamonds" singer at a club later without his wife.

"Solange was like, 'Enough is enough - you must be [screwing] Rihanna.' To many people who know them, they know it's not out of the realm of possibility," the insider claimed.

If there's any indication that Queen Bey is not fond of Rihanna despite the fact that her husband has backed the Barbados beauty's career, it would her her cryptic message during a Complex magazine interview, Daily Mail noted.

"There is room on this earth for many queens. I have an authentic, God-given talent, drive, and longevity that will always separate me from everyone else...I've been fortunate to accomplish things that the younger generation of queens dream of accomplishing. I have no desire for anyone else's throne. I am very comfortable in the throne I've been building for the past 15 years," Beyonce said back in 2011.

On the other hand, if an impending split of the power couple would be imminent, it might happen, at the very least, after their highly-successful joint "On the Run" tour.

The Page Six source added, "There's still something there, even though it's not going to last. Business is always part of the equation. They know they're the king and queen of hip-hop - and really, all of music. Neither wants to lose that."

According the International Business Times, the couple are both worth nearly a billion dollars. Forbes has since ranked Beyonce as the most powerful celebrity this year and Jay-Z following at sixth place, thanks to their tour slated to gross a hundred million dollars.

"There's face-saving involved - they don't want to be looked at like other celebrities out there. They are business people first, entertainers second. Husband and wife comes somewhere down the line," the Page Six source concluded.
