WWE Battleground 2014 featured interesting outcomes, particularly John Cena coming out on top despite the odds.

In a report by Sports Keeda, John Cena was set to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt in a Fatal 4-way match against Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and Kane. Seth Rollins, the holder of the Money in the Bank, collided with Dean Ambrose, his former The Shield partner. Other highlights were also previewed weeks before July 20, 2014.

1. Jack Swagger vs. Rusev

Swagger was set to face Rusev, which is one of the most agile and powerful wrestlers in the WWE. The two ended up fighting outside the ring and according to a tweet from WrestleZone.com, "Rusev wins via countout." Therefore, Rusev is still undefeated while Swagger remains the top challenger. The two are set to meet at SummerSlam which will finally put a close as to who the better wrestler is.

2. The Usos vs. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan

According to Bleacher Report, the WWE Tag Team Championship Match had long been awaited by fans since it featured the Wyatt Family against the Usos. Although the Usos were the favored team in the match, they were not meant to hold on to the title much longer. Harper and Rowan won the first and third fall to become WWE Tag Team Champions. The two are bound to cross paths with Goldust and Stardust soon.

3. The Intercontinental Championship

Since Bad News Barrett could not keep fighting due to a soldier injury, the stage had to be set for a 19-man Battle Royal. A lot of big WWE stars were featured, and Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler were the last two contenders. Just when Ziggler was celebrating his supposed victory, The Miz sneaked in and became the ultimate victor.

4. Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt

Jericho's return to the WWE was warmly received by fans. WWE Battleground 2014 was the perfect opportunity for Jericho to avenge himself after frequently getting outnumbered by the Wyatt Family. Wyatt was defeated via the Codebreaker and even Sister Abigail could not do anything about it. Bray and Jericho are set to fight again at SummerSlam.

5. Fatal 4-Way Match

Cena was expected to be left standing against Roman Reigns in the match. Reigns was on the verge of winning, after using all his signature moves, but Triple H intervened and kept him from getting the title. Cena emerged as the ultimate WWE Heavyweight Champion. Cena and Reigns will meet again at SummerSlam. Kane and Randy Orton are also bound to collide soon.
