WWE Raw on July 7, showcased the return of Chris Jericho. WWE Battleground 2014 is just a couple of weeks away, so the recent events thickened the plot in preparation for the big event at Tampa Bay, Florida.

In an article on Bleacher Report, Jericho faced Miz for his return match. After the bell rung, the two wrestlers locked up and Jericho takes down Miz first, to the delight of the crowd. Miz stomped back at Jericho and gains leverage to stand back up. Jericho hit Miz with several chops to the chest followed by a clothesline from the top rope. The fans were vouching for Jericho the entire time.

Afterwards, Jericho hit Miz with a triangle dropkick, causing the latter to fall out of the ring. Miz seemed hurt after he fell off the canvass. The two continued outside the ring but Miz regained control. After countering Jericho, Miz brought his opponent back on the canvass followed by a running kick to the face and a close fall. The two fighters exchanged blows for a while then Miz almost pinned Jericho for three counts after a successful DDT. Miz got hold of Jericho but Jericho reached the ropes for the release. A seemingly powerful punch by Jericho sent Miz down hard, according to a report by Pro Wrestling.

Jericho finally dominated the fight and executed his signature "The Walls of Jericho," causing Miz to tap out. "The Walls of Jericho" is executed by positioning the opponent lying down with his chest and face on the mat. Jericho then sat on Miz's buttocks and holds both of Miz's legs up with both arms, thereby stretching Miz's body until the latter grimaced in pain and tapped out.

The story continued after Jericho was declared the victor. The lights suddenly shut off for several seconds. When the lights went back on, Bray Wyatt was already sitting comfortably in his rocking chair in the right. Wyatt talked about how Jericho was not able to save himself. Jericho responded by telling Wyatt to stay quiet and threatened to attack. The lights go off a second time for a few seconds. When the lights returned, Rowan and Harper are positioned beside Wyatt.

Chris Jericho had been out of the WWE scene for about a year. He looked good and in top condition in his return. Fans speculate that he will face Wyatt next at Battleground 2014, although he will most likely be ambushed by Wyatt's two sidekicks.
