The Hispanic television network in the United States, Telemundo, will have a new president, starting in August, and will have new programming with original content, seeking to catch a wider Latino audience in the country.

Joe Uva, president of business and Hispanic content of NBC Universal, was in charge of introducing Luis Silberwasser as the new president of Telemundo Network, and welcomed Rubén Mendiola as the new president of Mund2, in charge of designing the new 2014-2015 programming for the network, based on a platform of five estellar telenovelas and new musical contest shows, according to El Universal.

Telemundo Studios will be under the care of Silberwasser, main producer of original material in Spanish for the Hispanic community in the United States.

"With our commitment to high quality content and innovation, the new leaders in charge of Telemundo Network and Mund2, and with the power of NBC Universal, no one media company is better positioned now and to grow in the future," said Uva in a press conference with the media.

New 2014-2015 Telemundo Programming

Among the new projects expected for Hispanic television are the telenovela "Los Miserables" which in late 2014 will captivate audiences with the acting of Mexican actress Aracely Arámbula, based on Victor Hugo's novel. Another awaited project is "Dueños del Paraíso", with the return of Kate del Castillo, star of the narconovela "La Reina del Sur". For her part, Blanca Soto will be the star of "Señora Acero" with her recent arrival to the network after she left Univisión.

Sundays will be for reality shows in Telemundo, with projects such as: "Yo soy el artista", "La Voz kids" and "Top Chef Estrellas"; and a new beauty contest "Miss Latina Universo", which will see to be the direct competition of "Nuestra Belleza Latina" from rival netwoek Univisión.

The success of the narconovela "El Señor de los Cielos" returns to television screens with a second season, continuing the story of Amado Carrillo (leader of the mexican Juárez cartel) with Rafael Amaya, who stars in the telenovela and with a cast comprised of Marlene Favela, Carmen Villalobos, Ximena Herrera, Fernanda Castillo, Ruy Senderos, Raúl Méndez and Mauricio Ohcman. "El Señor de los Cielos" will premiere in the United States in late May, at 10:00 p.m. through Telemundo.
