The son of Mexican singer Juan Gabriel, Joan Gabriel Aguilera, was arrested by authorities of the state of Florida after causing a serious accident by driving under the influence of alcohol in December, 2013.

The investigation indicates that the 25-year-old man was driving above the speed limit under the influence of alcohol, crashing his car against a woman's car in the early morning of December 30 of last year, which is why he must show up at a Florida court on June, 2014 to determine whether he's absolved or if he goes to prison.

The information revealed by Mexican magazine TV Notas indicates that Joan's problems with alcohol are not new and he regularly drives while drunk and at high speeds.

The source quoted by the magazine assured that the singer's son never tried to escape, and was found by police officers, sitting on the street and crying, asking for forgiveness for causing the accident, showing just how drunk he was.

The news was revealed a few days after his father was released from a hospital in Las Vegas, where he spent many weeks due to a case of pneumonia.

Juan Gabriel's recovery has been a cause of controversy in Mexican media, which spoke of rumors of cancer and other chronic diseases; however, the family denied the information assuring that the "divo of Juárez" is in recovery and will continue his tour in August.

"He's recovering, it wasn't just enchiladas, it was serious and he's still in the hospital. Honestly, doctors are afraid that if he doesn't leave, he won't follow instructions and we know him, we know his theories on natural medicine. If doctors are keeping him there is because it has to be that way and his children agree, all of the family, so we're expecting him to leave soon, once he's done with treatment, as it should be," said his manager, quoted by local media.

"His health improved considerably since he began treatment," he said, and added that Juan Gabriel will stayin Las Vegas and Los Angeles until he can fulfill his commitments.
