It's been a heartbreaking past few years for Half-Life fans. After the release of Half-Life 2: Episode Two back in 2007, Valve has been mysteriously quiet on the game, refusing to release any details or updates on when gamers can expect to see the game.

In a recent podcast interview with Seven Day Cooldown Valve co-founder Gabe Newell shed some light on why this is the case."In terms of Ricochet 2, we always have this problem that when we talk about things too far in advance," Newell said.

"We end up changing our minds as we're going through and developing stuff, so as we're thinking through the giant story arc which is Ricochet 2, you might get to a point where you're saying something is surprising us in a positive way and something is surprising us in a negative way, and, you know, we'd like to be super transparent about the future of Ricochet 2."

The response was prompted by the interviewer asking ,"When can we expect the release of Ricochet 2?"

Ricochet 2 is apparently a codename for Half-Life 3, since no game named Ricochet 2 is in development by Valve.

Earlier this summer, a leaked Gamescom document showed that Valve would have a Half-Life 3 booth. It was later revealed that the listing was false.

"We're not showing any games in Cologne [Germany] this year," stated Valve.

While the podcast interview did not reveal any information, it does point to the fact that the game is in development, and that Valve is apparently so concerned with its reception, it will wait until the game is up to Half-Life par before releasing any details.
