Disney has revealed that the lead character of the show "Jessie," Jessie Prescott, will be engaged and wed before the close of the series' third season.

Prescott's persona, played by 20-year-old Debby Ryan, 22 years of age on the show, will be involved in a whirlwind romance. Spanning four episodes, viewers will witness the young woman getting engaged and walking down the aisle, reports ABC News. Jessie's onscreen love interest is 25-year-old Brooks, played by Pierson Fode.

The Inquisitr writes that Disney has been utilizing its platform as a popular media channel and boldly tackling a number of sensitive issues in a number of its pre-teen TV shows. The company recently made headlines when it introduced, for the first time, a same-sex couple on its show "Good Luck Charlie."

"Our audience isn't dealing with somebody proposing to them, but they are dealing with choices they have to make in their life, and thinking things through, following their heart and wanting to make the right choice," quoted the Inquisitr of Adam Bonnett, EVP of Disney's original programming. The show will include scenes of picnics and dates but will attempt to steer-clear of more controversial topics like sex.

Bonnet further explains that as an adult, the show could already tackle the subject of marriage. "The way we deal with this romance is very pure Disney fairy tale," reports Disney Dreaming.

Speaking on the topic of dealing with difficult decisions, "Jessie" actress Ryan reflects on the thought, "Your principal character is deciding whether or not she should start her life with a man," notes Tribtown.

Ryan, who turns 22 in May, reveals she will not be tying the knot with real-life boyfriend, musician Josh Dun anytime soon. The young star confirms she's focused on her career, music and her directorial debut by way of a "Jessie" episode.
