According to Digital Spy, the beta version of the game can be acquired by pre-ordering "Wolfenstein: The New Order."

Pre-ordering "Wolfenstein" on the PlayStation platforms will unlock the beta version for the PS4 while getting it for the Xbox consoles provide access for the Xbox One.

Bethesda, the game's publisher, noted that an Xbox Live Gold subscription is required for Xbox One users to enjoy the Beta. PS4 gamers, on the other hand, are not required to have a PS Plus membership.

"Wolfenstein: The New Order" can be pre-ordered by visiting the game's website. It will be released on May 20 in North America, May 22 in Australia, and May 23 in Europe, IGN reported.

There are no announcements yet regarding the official release date for "Doom 4". A previous article on Kotaku described the upcoming game from Bethesda and Id Software as being in development hell since its production was first announced in May of 2007.

Since then, the title has been under scrutiny due to the vague details released about the game. In 2011, more than three years after announcing the production of "Doom 4," the studios behind the game decided to remake the project completely.

Peter Hines, Bethesda's public relations officer and vice president of marketing said in a statement, "An earlier version of 'Doom 4' did not exhibit the quality and excitement that Id and Bethesda intend to deliver and that 'Doom' fans worldwide expect."

He continued, "As a result, Id refocused its efforts for a new version of 'Doom 4' that promised to meet the very high expectations everyone has for this game and this franchise. When we're ready to talk about the 'Doom' 4 Id is making, we will let folks know."
