The new restrictions against abortion in Texas were promoted last year by republican legislators and has been supported by a Federal Court, local media reported.

With this decision, which will determine in a more strict manner when, where and how women can obtain access to abortion services in the state, a panel of judges revoked a previous ruling emitted by an lower court which considered that these rules violated the Constitution and that it had no medical purpose, according to the ABC.

According to the same source, the new law regulating abortion in Texas was approved with a large majority last summer by the Texas legislature, controlled by republicans; however, the initial ruling of a lower court judge managed to temporarily stop the stricter parts of the initiative by considering them unconstitutional.

Despite this, on Thursday, March 27, a panel of judges in the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit emitted a final ruling saying that these dispositions will still be valid in the state of Texas.

With this ruling, various clinics practicing abortions in the region will be forced to shut down, since the doctors who practice abortions must have a license to be able to work in a nearby hospital, and limited doctors to prescribing pills to induce abortions.

According to CNN, the dispositions approved on Thursday are obligatory in Texas, unless the US Supreme Court considers them unconstitutional, something specialists consider to be unlikely.

"The people of Texas have spoken through their elected leaders and in support of the culture of life in our state. The legal decision made today is good news for the women of Texas and for the unborn, and we will continue to fight to protect life and the health of women in Texas," said Governor Rick Perry, according to the quoted source.
