Jeremy Irons has revealed that the "Batman vs. Superman" script is not finished.

Variety reports that Irons said he was not sure what his Alfred would be like because "the script isn't entirely finished."

When asked about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman, Irons said he was thrilled. "I think [his casting] is a wonderful idea. He's a lovely man and an interesting actor. I'm looking forward to getting to know him. I've only met him once."

With the revelation that the script has not been finished, production may be delayed as a result. The film has already been delayed once—until 2016—after the studio realized it needed more time. The film was originally written by David Goyer, but later "Argo" writer Chris Terrio took over.

According to early reports, the film was supposed to start production earlier this year. There were even some rumors that B-roll filming had begun and Snyder had shot a football scene similar to that of "The Dark Knight Rises" as well as a scene at a farm. However, with the script yet to be finished and with the actors knowing little their characters, it is unlikely that production will start until the end of the summer.

For the new film, director Zack Snyder has cast an intriguing set of actors, which have made fans question the casting choices.

While Irons was well received by fans as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg ("The Social Network") was seen as too young for the role of Lex Luthor. Lex Luthor has traditionally been played by older actors, including Kevin Spacey in one of the recent films; it was a bit shocking to see Eisenberg cast in the role.

One of the other surprising inclusions was the character of Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot from the "Fast and Furious" series was cast as the heroine and many fans have started to speculate whether this new film would lead into the highly anticipated Justice League film that Warner Bros. is planning.

Of course, the most controversial actor to be cast was Ben Affleck ("Argo") as Batman. Affleck said that his character would be older and more rugged than the previous incarnations of the character. Many fans seem unconvinced by his acting chops. Due to Affleck's performance as Daredevil in the movie adaptation of the comic, as well as his inclusion in a number of terrible films, the actor will likely go through harsh criticism throughout the production and release of the film.

The rest of the cast will be taken from Snyder's last film, "Man of Steel." Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman while Amy Adams will play the role of Lois Lane. Meanwhile, Diane Lane will play Martha Kent and Laurence Fishburne will portray Perry White.

The film will be directed by Snyder and produced by Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder, while Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas will serve as Executive Producers. Warner Bros. will release the film on May 6, 2016.
