Elizabeth Banks will direct "Pitch Perfect 2."

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Banks, who produced and co-starred in the previous installment, is looking to get behind the camera.

Universal stated, "Elizabeth originated the idea for 'Pitch Perfect' and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success. She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on and we're thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on 'Pitch Perfect 2.'"

The new film is being written by Kay Cannon ("Pitch Perfect") while Paul Brooks will produce for Gold Circle Films alongside Banks and Max Handelman for their Brownstone Productions shingle. Gold Circle's Scott Niemeyer will serve as executive producer and Cannon will be co-producing with Gold Circle's Jeff Levine.

The original "Pitch Perfect" grossed $65 million domestically and $115 million worldwide. The film was a huge success as it only had a $17 million budget. Additionally the soundtrack to the movie sold more than 1 million copies.

Banks is best known for her work "The Hunger Games" series and for playing Laura Bush in "W." She has also been seen in "The Details," "People Like Us" and "What Expect When Your Expecting." She also starred in "Man on a Ledge," "Our Idiot Brother," and "Role Models." Banks will next be a voice in "The Lego Movie" and star in "Walk of Shame."
