The Nokia Lumia 1020 was named one of TIME magazine's top 10 gadgets of 2013.

According to TIME, the Lumia 1020 is "something new"—a "phonecamera" instead of a "cameraphone."

TIME touted the Lumia 1020's 41-megapixel resolution, which allows the smartphone owner to snap detailed photographs. The magazine added that despite the need of a USB cable to download the high-resolution images, the Lumia 1020 is "worth the effort."

"Even iPhone and Android fans who thought they couldn't care less about Windows Phones might find themselves smitten with this one," wrote TIME's Harry McCracken.

The Lumia 1020's features include a 4.5-inch screen with 1,280x768 pixels covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The new Windows Phone 8 device has 32GB of internal storage for 2GB of RAM. The device includes a rear-facing camera with a 41-megapixel sensor and front-facing camera with 1.2 megapixels. The smartphone also packs a 2,000mAh battery.

In the U.S., the Lumia 1020 is an exclusive smartphone with mobile carrier AT&T. The Lumia 1020 is priced at $199.99 when signing a two-year contract with the mobile carrier.

The Lumia 1020's 10th place rank came behind the Xbox One's sixth-place finish and the iPhone 5s, which finished at fifth. Apple's iPad Air and iPad mini tied at second place, losing to the Google Chromecast.
