Uruguay and Jordan will face off in the first leg of the World Cup playoffs on Wednesday.

The Uruguayans finished fifth in the CONMEBOL standings while Jordan eliminated Uzbekistan in a penalty shootout during the Asian playoffs.

The Uruguayans, who finished fourth in the 2010 World Cup and boast such talent as Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani are seen as the favorites heading into this game. However, Suarez knows that his team cannot underestimate his rivals, especially on their own turf.

"Jordan will be very motivated to play us, just as teams are when they meet us in the World Cup and the Copa America," said Suarez, according to Mail Online. "We have to be careful. We know Jordan have fast outfield players and if you leave space, they could show their quality."

"If Jordan gives everything in order to take advantage of its status as the home team, it will make things hard for us, and I'm not being pessimistic or cautious," he added. "They don't have any elite football players, but to make a match tough, that's not necessary."

Jordan finished third in Group B of the AFC qualifiers with a record of three wins, one draw and four losses; the team scored seven goals and conceded 16 in the process. In the playoffs, the team took on Uzbekistan. The two sides battled to 1-1 draws in each of the legs and wound up heading to the penalty shootout where Jordan won 9-8.
