Diablo 3 has been one of the most successful PC games of recent memory, and since its release the game has come to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and will be coming to the PlayStation 4 as well. In addition to these new ports of the game, the first expansion, Reaper of Souls, is set to appear sometime in the near future for the PC, Mac and PlayStation 4. Now, Blizzard has announced, via Battle.net, some new information about the enemies that will be added to Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls.

The new game details were revealed as part of a preview of the Westmarch Bestiary for the expansion, and explains a bit of the origin of the enemies players will face in this new part of Diablo 3:

"Following the defeat of the Prime Evil, the mortal realm of Sanctuary should have entered an age of hope and prosperity. Instead, this event has drawn out a being of immense power, one more sinister than any demon: Malthael. Having plucked the Black Soulstone from its tenuous hiding place, the Angel of Death now moves on Westmarch, the great martial and mercantile capital of the west. It is there that your heroes will encounter the first of his forces, a macabre combination of ghastly lieutenants and baleful constructs."

Because this is a preview of the in-game bestiary, little gameplay information is revealed about the 10 new enemies found in Reaper of Souls. The preview focuses more on the backgrounds of the new enemies and creatures. However, some gameplay details can be gleaned from these descriptions. For example, the Summoner of the Dead will raise an undead army to fight against the player, but taking down this foe will cause all the summoned enemies to disappear. The War Beasts will hunt players in packs with a single-minded determination, forcing players to withstand waves of the creatures.

Revenant Soldiers will put up a fight with players, and then explode once they're defeated. This means players will have to take them down from a distance if they want to avoid further damage. Finally, the Ghastly Seraph has the ability to trap players using magical tendrils.

These new enemies will offer veteran Diablo 3 players new challenges when they play through the new expansion. Reaper of Souls currently has no confirmed release date on any platform.
