Halloween is tomorrow, but let’s be honest, the entire month of October is Halloween. The weeks of decorations, costume deliberation and horror movie marathons are several ingredients that contribute to Halloween month. No longer is it a single-day holiday. Like Christmas, it’s become a much larger ordeal as our society holds celebration in higher and higher regard. Everywhere you look it’s Halloween. On your block, in the convenience store, commercials and even television shows.

With series such as “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Walking Dead” and “American Horror Story,” the terror of October reigns supreme. Nightmares keep us awake at night as morbid images are embedded deep in our conscience. Now a new show, one whose popularity has greatly increased as the spooky autumn weeks progress, is climbing its way up the ranks of terrifying television shows.

“Dracula” surprised NBC with 5.3 million viewers Friday night, despite its tough 10 p.m. timeslot, but will it last? Even if the show’s success continues, star and executive producer Jonathan Rhys Meyers says that the series may have a shelf life, TVLine reports. “The thing about making something like ‘Dracula’ is, you’ve got these elements of power and wealth and all this, but you still have to lose, eventually.

“Season 1 maybe, or Season 2 maybe, but [Dracula’s] got to lose. Morality demands it.”

“Dracula” airs Friday nights on NBC. Be sure to get your fix before it’s too late.
