Microsoft's second-generation Surface tablets are set to launch on Oct. 22, and the Redmond-based organization are set for the occasion.

As Latinos Post reported, Microsoft confirmed 10 of its retail stores will hold midnight launch events for the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2.

The Microsoft retail stores will feature mini events such as the Surface Challenge, which offers contestants to participate in interactive and physical games. The winner of the Surface Challenge will get to travel to Orlando, Fla., to watch Pitbull perform at the Mall at Millenia store opening.

The midnight launch events start at 10 p.m. at the Bellevue Square Mall, Westfield San Francisco Centre, Scottsdale Fashion Square, Dadeland Mall in Miami, Lennox Square Mall in Atlanta, The Shops at Prudential Center at Boston, The Westchester in White Plains, N.Y., The Domain at Austin, Texas, The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City in Virginia, and the Oakbrook Center Mall in Illinois.

When it comes to specifications, the display for the two Surface Pro tablets is the same with 10.6-inch ClearType HD screen at 1,920x1,080 resolution and 10-point multi-touch. The new Surface Pro 2 tablet utilizes the Windows 8.1 Pro operating system while the predecessor Surface Pro has the Windows 8 Pro.

The CPU for the Surface Pro 2 runs on the fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor while the Surface Pro uses the third-generation Intel Core i5 processor with Intel HD Graphics 4000.

The wireless connectivity for the two Surface tablets is the same with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and low-energy Bluetooth 4.0 technology.

The camera specifications also remain the same with the rear and front-facing cameras keeping the 720p HD cameras.

The Surface 2 tablet is available in 32GB and 64GB models, but prices and shipments dates vary. The 32GB Surface 2 tablet is priced at $449 and has an expected shipment date of Oct. 25. The 64GB Surface 2 will cost the consumer $549 and has a projected shipment date of Oct. 29.

The 64GB Surface Pro 2's set to be shipped on Oct. 25 with a price tag of $899. The 128GB of the Surface Pro 2 shares the same estimated shipment date as the 64GB tablet but for $999.

The 256GB and 512GB Surface Pro 2, priced at $1,299 and $1,799, respectively, are to be shipped by Dec. 15. As Latinos Post reported, the 256GB and 512GB tablets were previously given a shipment date of Oct. 29.

Regardless of the second-generation tablet, Microsoft is offering free shipping and free returns with 200GB of SkyDrive storage when purchasing the tablet.

While the second-generation Surface tablets have been available for pre-orders since Sept. 24, the tablets will be released across 22 markets including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.

The launch continues in early November with China, although a specific date is unknown.
