Genesis Rodriguez is in final negotiations to star in Kevin Smith's new film.

According to Variety the actress will play the female lead in the horror picture "Tusk." The film tells the story of a podcaster who sets out to interview an eccentric, reclusive old seafarer, only to find himself a play thing in the gruesome plot of a deranged killer. The movie will also star Justin Long and Michael Parks, and will start production in November.

Rodriguez was last seen in "Identity Thief" alongside Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy. She was also seen in "The Last Stand" and "What to Expect when You're Expecting." The actress has also appeared in "Man On a Ledge" and "Entourage." Rodriguez began her career in the telenovela where she was seen in "Dame Chocolate," "Prisionera" and "Dona Barbara." She will next appear in "Hours" with Paul Walker and Nick Gomez.

Smith has previously directed "Clerks," "Clerks 2," "Red State," "Dogma" and "Chasing Amy." He's also acted in "Fanboys," "TMNT," "Live Free or Die Hard," and "Catch and Release."

Long has been seen in "Accepted," "Drag Me To Hell," "Live Free or Die Hard" and "Movie 43." The actor will next be seen in "A Case of You." He is also set to star "Undiscovered Gyrl" and "The Lookalike."

Demarest Films will finance and produce the movie with producers Sam Englebardt and William D. Johnson; Shannon McIntosh of Smith's Smodcast Pictures will also produce. Demarest's David Greathouse and Jennifer Schwalbach are executive producers.
