The late grupera singer Jenni Rivera was crowned yesterday as the biggest winner in the third edition of the Billboard Mexican Music Awards (BMMA) by winning seven awards in the ten categories she was nominated in.

The second best winner of the night was Gerardo Ortiz, who won four awards in the 15 categories in which he was nominated. Despite this, Ortiz is still the artist with the biggest total number of awards in the Billboard Mexican Music Awards, with a total of 17 awards, according to information published by newspaper La Opinión in its website.

The BMMA ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 9 in the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, which was previously called the Kodak Theater, and was previously chosen by Jenni Rivera as the venue for one of her first concerts in the United States.

"La Gran Señora" triumphed yesterday in the most coveted categories of the BMMA, among which are "Artist of the Year", "Feminine Artist of the Year", "Album of the Year", and "Digital Download of the Year", pointed out People en Español magazine.

The same source reports that other winners of the night were "El Rey del Jaripeo", Joan Sebastián, who obtained two awards for his album "13 Celebrando El 13", and a special "The Voice" award.

Banda el Recodo was acknowledged with the "Musical Legacy" award, while Los Tigres del Norte received the "Leaders" award for their distinguished music career.
