Where is the Justice League? Marvel's "Avengers" smashed the box office and is already gearing up for its sequel. Despite the handful of DC comic character movies already on the market, Warner Bros. has yet to establish a unifying universe for the DC superheroes to play in. "Man of Steel" is a stepping stone in the right direction. Other films such as "Green Lantern" and the "Dark Knight" saga are too fantastical to cater to all the Justice League members. "Man of Steel" creates a common ground. All heroes will flourish, including those that have yet to make their movie debut.

Now as talks of the potential Justice League movie barrel forward, eager actors are looking to hop on board, but details of any official casting are scarce. At this point in the process, all fans can do is speculate. So below are our top candidates for the coveted DC superhero roles.

Superman: Henry Cavill. It’s the obvious choice. He’s played the part in “Man of Steel,” the movie that will serve as the basis for “Justice League of America.” With such a wide array of heroes, it’s essential for Warner Bros. to establish a common universe for them to live harmoniously, and “Man of Steel” sets the stage. Besides, Cavill is simply perfect for the role. Nothing more.

Batman: Previous rumors indicated that Christian Bale would not be hopping on the Justice League train, but Armie Hammer or Jake Gyllenhaal could serve as formidable substitutes. Hammer and Gyllenhaal both auditioned for the part in “Batman Begins” and have proven themselves as Hollywood royalty, something to which “Justice League of America” is entitled.

The Green Lantern: Ryan Reynolds has already played the lantern wielding hero, but with mixed reviews. If he isn’t up for reprising the role, then Bradley Cooper, who’s also been rumored to play The Flash, would be an adequate substitute.

The Flash: As mentioned above, Cooper has been tossed into discussions to play Flash, but if not, a young Grant Gustin has been cast to play an early, pre-super powers Barry Allen in CW series “Arrow.” If fans respond positively to the young buck’s portrayal, why not give him a chance on the big screen?

Wonder Woman: Kate Beckinsale dazzled in the “Underworld” flicks, proving that she has the look, charisma and long dark hair that would bring poise and beauty the DC crew.

Who do you think should play the core Justice League characters?
