The 2013 Presidents Cup enters the last day of competition, but the result of the latest duel between the Americans and International golfers is still up in the air with hard rains continue to delay the play at Muirfield Village Golf Club on Sunday.
The Americans are in control after three days. The tandem of Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar has been sensational all throughout while the pair of Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley are also having a wonderful time together.
Still, Team USA's lead is not enough for them to get complacent. With strong leadership of Nick Price and a handful of up-and-coming golfers, the Internationals are still very capable of pulling off a big comeback, especially with 12 points at stake on Sunday's singles match.
"Well, it's not over," Price told ESPN. "We've still got a lot of golf to play tomorrow, and I have the utmost confidence in these guys that they can turn those two games around. We don't want to go into the singles with too much of a deficit."
"We're still in pretty good shape. If we can turn one of these games around tomorrow, it would make our life a lot easier going into singles," Price added.
Unfortunately for the Internationals, the United States finished the continuation of Saturday afternoon's foursome with a 3 ½ -1 ½ result. Thus, the Americans only need to win at least four in Sundays 12 singles match schedule to secure another Presidents Cup victory.
After another downpour on the golf course, the singles matches resume on Sunday with the Americans taking a commanding 15-9 lead. Jason Day took a 6&4 victory over Brandt Snedeker to give the Internationals the first point in the singles, but Team USA responded quickly following Hunter Mahan's 3 & 2 win over Hideki Matsuyama.
Now, the Americans only need to win three more singles matches to retain the cup. However, the Internationals are expected to put up a strong fight with 10 more singles duels undecided.
