It has finally come. Charizard will become a Dragon-type Pokémon.

The Pokémon Company International has announced Charizard will have a second Mega Evolution. The new Mega Evolution is known as Mega Charizard X.

As Mega Charizard X, the first-generation Pokémon becomes a dark-colored Pokémon with blue-inner wings and flames.

In addition, Mega Charizard X drops its Flying-type status and adds Dragon type while maintaining its original Fire-type status.

Mega Charizard X will only occur if the Flame Pokémon is holding the Charizardite X Mega Stone. The Charizardite X Mega Stone is exclusive to the "Pokémon X" video game.

As Mega Charizard X, the dual Fire-and-Dragon-type Pokémon has its Attack increased and the Ability Tough Claws, which raises the power of direct contact moves. Tough Claws will be important, as Mega Charizard X is able to utilize the move Dragon Tail, a physical move that can force the opposing Pokémon to switch out during the battle.

Meanwhile, Charizard can Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard Y with the Charizardite Y Mega Stone, which is exclusive to "Pokémon Y." As Mega Charizard Y, the Flame Pokémon has its Special Attack increased significantly and has the Ability Drought, which increases Fire-type moves.

With a suggested retail price of $39.99, the "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" games will be released in North America, Europe, Japan and Australia on Oct. 12 for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS.

As a reminder, the Oct. 12 release date coincides with the Torchic distribution event. Torchic will be available, for free, holding the item "Blazikenite," which will transform Torchic's last evolution, Blaziken, into "Mega Blaziken." The Fire-type Hoenn-region starter will be available for gamers worldwide until Jan. 15, 2014
