Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is sure to wow gamers on whatever console they choose to buy the game on, and Ubisoft has released a new video from the game narrated by voice actor Matt Ryan showing fans the characters they will encounter throughout the game.

The video begins with the character Ryan portrays, Edward Kenway, being introduced. Edward, who is the grandfather of Assassin's Creed 3's protagonist, is much rougher around the edges than previous Assassin's Creed heroes. Edward is originally from Wales, but sailed to the Caribbean to find fortune and glory. He is more volatile than previous protagonists in Assassin's Creed, and will get players into bar fights and other similar situations. It is unclear how and when he joined the Assassins.

Edward's main alley is Adewale, the quartermaster for his ship the Jackdaw. Adewale is an escaped slave who joined Edward seeking a life of freedom and equality among the Jackdaw's pirate crew. Adewale is an equal fighter to Edward, but is much more level-headed than his friend.

Players will be spending much of their time in Nassau, the pirate nation founded by Benjamin Hornigold and Edward Thatch, aka Blackbeard. Blackbeard seems much closer to Edward, as the famous pirate acted as mentor to Edward. Hornigold is a much more honorable character than Blackbeard, and has his own code of conduct, such as not attacking British ships.

A unique character players will encounter is Stede Bonnet, who gave up a life of luxury to come to Nassau and embrace his pirate identity. Woodes Rogers is a much darker character, who seeks to end the pirate's reign and bring about order to the region. His main foe is Charles Vane, a psychopath pirate who takes pleasure in plundering and murder.

These are just a handful of characters players will encounter over the course of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. Players will also get drafted into the Assassins and take on the Templars found in the region while Edward tries to achieve his dreams of wealth and power. While the Assassins and Templars are briefly seen at the end of the trailer, no mention of specific characters from those orders are detailed in the video.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag looks like it have a rich, engaging story full of memorable character to go along with the huge open world that players can explore.
