Last week, rumors erupted that Apple would be releasing their highly anticipated iPhone 5 next month on September 21. However, the company has yet to confirm anything.

AT&T however has helped strengthen the aforementioned rumor as a source from the company has reported that the carrier will launch the iPhone 5 on the third or fourth week of September. This confirmation is in line with rumors that Apple would unveil its phone on September 12 and promptly release it just nine days later. The LA Times also reports that AT&T has been forced to reschedule a major training event due to a "Huge Announcement."

The latest rumor comes as reports indicate that retailers are dropping prices for other iPhones. Target has the Verizon 16GB iPhone 4S on sale for $179.99 with a contract. Meanwhile Best Buy is offering a $50 discount for the iPhone 4, which it now lists for just $49.99.

Sprint also cut prices on the iPhone 4S 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models. The 16GB version of the iPhone 4S is priced at $149.99 with a two year contract and the 32GB version of the iPhone 4S is priced at $249.99.

The reduced prices clearly indicate the imminent arrival of Apple's next iPhone and while the reduced prices will likely draw consumers, it is possible that those prices will drop further with the iPhone 5's launch.
