Tomorrow marks the beginning of the end. While it’s time to say goodbye, it’s imperative to savor and cherish every last moment we have. “How I Met Your Mother” is entering its ninth and final season next month, but as crippling as the blow may be, remember that there’s still a full season to enjoy while we look back on the heartfelt moments that made the series such a success.

As the final 24-hour countdown to the season premiere begins, fans are planning ahead to how they’re going to spend their final months with the lovable gang. While the season revolves around Barney and Robin’s wedding weekend, it will also cater to the most memorable and loving moments that made the series so unforgettable.

A series of flashbacks will document Robin and Barney’s uncertain and rocky relationship that will tie in nicely with the season’s storyline, TV Guide reports. And although Ted’s forbidden love will likely drive Robin to dwell on her potential future with Barney, fans should not underestimate the influence of Barney’s brother, James, played by Wayne Brady.

On that note, Ted’s attempt to give Robin the locket won’t go as smoothly as planned. There will be plenty of twists and turns as he pursues his quest. There’s no telling what this will entail, but it’s sure to cast turbulence over the big wedding extravaganza.

As for the Mother, Lily is the first person to meet her as she arrives for the celebrations, and they immediately connect on a deep, passionate level as the Mother offers a distraught Lily several delicious cookies. One down, four to go.

Later on in the season, Barney and Robin realize that by inviting so many zany relatives, they’ve created an uncontrollable mass of hooligans that could ruin their own wedding. Such characters include a lovesick Ted, a couple alcoholic flirts and a stranded and discouraged Marshall.

The final season of “How I Met Your Mother” kicks off tomorrow, Monday September 23, with a special hour-long episode. Be sure not to miss a beat.
