After drowning in a wave of controversy involving illegal drugs, court appearances and erratic behavior, it's almost hard to imagine Amanda Bynes was once a sweet and innocent child actress on Nickelodeon. Nowadays, the embattled starlet has become infamous for wearing messy wigs, calling A-list celebrities "ugly" on Twitter and declaring that she wants Drake to "murder my vagina."

However, there's one star that distinctly recalls Bynes before she was inundated with negative media attention for her outlandish antics.

In an interview on VH1, fellow former child star Aaron Carter reminisced about Amanda Bynes back when the two were dating. The former teen heartthrob opened up to "Miss U Much" host Catherine Reitman about their relationship, stating that he "was with Amanda Bynes for nine months," and that the couple shared a "serious relationship" even though they were only 11 years old. "I mean we didn't do anything," he said.

No longer a kid, the "Easy A" actress is currently spending her time these days at the UCLA Medical where she is reportedly undergoing treatment for schizophrenia.

According to TMZ, the former Nickelodeon star is dishing out as much as $3,500 a day for both treatment and living expenses at the mental facility.

The 27-year-old actress was committed to a psychiatric hospital on July 22 after setting fire to a stranger's driveway in Thousand Oaks, Calif. She was placed on a psychiatric hold at the Hillman Psychiatric Center in Ventura County before her mother had her moved to the psychiatric unit at UCLA.

Last month, a judge granted her doctors a request to keep her as an inpatient for up to a year, reports TMZ. However, inside sources indicate that it's unlikely she'll stay for a full year, and will instead spend just another 60 days receiving care to stabilize her before transferring Bynes to her mother's home.
