The show starts off with Smackdown general manager Vickie Guerrero demanding that Daniel Bryan confess to the conspiracy of attempting to take Randy Orton's WWE Title through devious manners, to which Bryan denied any such conspiracy between him and recently-fired WWE referee Scott Armstrong. As punishment for what happened at the end Monday Night Raw, Guerrero set a 3-on-1 Gauntlet match with each WWE superstar that helped Daniel Bryan having to face all three members of The Shield at the same time - with Bryan set to be the last person to run the gauntlet.

WWE Divas champion AJ Lee defeated Total Diva Naomi in a non-title match after cinching the Black Widow submission hold.

Santino Marella defeated Jack Swagger with a roll-up for the three-count.

Ryback defeated a nondescript jobber after Paul Heyman cut a promo saying that he was "Best in the World" after pinning and defeating CM Punk at Night of Champions while Ryback made it clear he hates bullies and will not allow for Heyman to be bullied by Punk anymore.

Randy Orton comes out and tells the fans he decimated The Miz on Monday Night Raw because he got tired of trying to be like John Cena and not let "The Viper" out. Orton promises to not only regain the WWE Title at the Battleground pay-per-view but to put an end to his problems with Daniel Bryan.

The Shield come out for their 3-on-1 Gauntlet match defeating Darren Young (pin), Titus O'Neil (pin), Dolph Ziggler (counted out after taking a Roman Reigns' Spear outside the ring), and Kofi Kingston (Dean Ambrose nailed his Headlock Driver for the pin). Rob Van Dam came out next, taking on Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose (Roman Reigns was knocked out after taking a Kingston Trouble in Paradise during the match), nailing Rolling Thunder on both members of The Shield before WWE CEO Triple H made his way down the ring to stop the match.

Backstage, Triple H yells at Vickie Guerrero for scheduling a Gauntlet match and decides that Bryan and the Uso brothers will take on the The Shield in a Three-Man Tag Team match. Triple H also sent Zach Ryder and Justin Gabriel out to the ring since for a match since they wanted more competition, only to feed the duo to the buzzards, having them take on Luke Harper and Erick Rowan of the Wyatt Family. The Wyatts defeated Ryder and Gabriel with Ryder taking the Sister Abigail maneuver from Bray Wyatt after the match.

Backstage, Triple H apologizes to Van Dam for being put in a Gauntlet match and gave him another shot at Alberto Del Rio's WWE Heavyweight title. Del Rio eventually interrupted and attacked RVD.

Alberto Del Rio defeated R-Truth via submission with the Cross Armbreaker.

The Usos and Bryan defeated The Shield after the Usos took out Rollins and Reigns while Bryan forced Ambrose to tap out via the Yes! Lock to end the show. Orton attacked Bryan after the match, Bryan fending off a sneak attack from "The Apex Predator" to end the show.
