Days after Apple began accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 5c, the Cupertino-based organization has yet to announce its first-day sales.

As CNET noted, Apple has not revealed the number of iPhone 5c smartphones pre-sold. Apple has usually announced the number of pre-orders made during the first 24 hours by the Monday following the pre-order launch date.

Apple first started announcing the number of smartphones pre-sold on the first pre-order day of the iPhone 3GS.

There are two possible reasons Apple isn't disclosing iPhone 5c pre-order sales figures so far.

The first is the fact Cupertino is launching two smartphones this year. The iPhone 5s, however, is not accepting pre-orders, but it shares the same release date as the iPhone 5c on Sept. 20. The second possible reason is the iPhone 5c sales are not meeting expectations.

As Latinos Post reported, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster stated the iPhone 5c could reach 1 million units in sales during the first 24 hours of pre-orders. In comparison, the iPhone 5 hit 2 million pre-orders in the first 24 hours it was available in September 2012.

"We remain comfortable that Apple could sell 5-6 million 5S and 5C units in the launch weekend compared to 5 million iPhone 5s sold in last year's launch (20 [percent] y/y growth)," wrote Munster. "We believe that Apple could sell 8-9 million between September 20 (launch date) and the end of the month."

Apple has not issued a comment regarding the iPhone 5c pre-order sales.

The iPhone 5c is available for $99 when buying the 16GB model and signing a two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon Wireless. The 32GB model will cost the consumer an additional $100.

The iPhone 5c features the same specifications as the original iPhone 5, such as the 4-inch Retina Display with 1,136x640 resolution, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1080p HD video recording camera, to name a few. Two notable changes include the addition of iOS 7 and new color options for the iPhone 5c. The new smartphone will be offered in blue, green, pink, white and yellow variants.

Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller stated, "iPhone 5c is everything iPhone 5 was and more, in an all-new design packed with great features. iPhone 5c is designed with a beautiful polycarbonate enclosure that looks and feels so solid in your hand."
