On the upcoming season of "The Good Wife," Alicia will be in for some mother/daughter bonding-- and some inevitable mother/daughter squabbling.

Stockard Channing will reprise her role as Alicia's (Juliana Margulies) mother, Veronica, on the show's upcoming fifth season, according to TVGuide. Channing will reappear in the Oct. 6 episode.

CBS's logline teases that Stockard's character "takes steps to support her daughter." Yet, as often happens when mothers meddle, her helping hand sometimes makes the situation worse.

Channing is a veteran actress who has appeared in many roles in feature films and television, such as "Grease," "Practical Magic" and "The West Wing." Channing has also appeared on Broadway in many plays and musicals, such as "Six Degrees of Separation" and "Pal Joey."

Channing is among a number of actors reprising their roles on the CBS hit. John Benjamin Hickey ("The Big C") is reprising his role as Chumhum's leader, Neil Gross, and Miriam Shor ("GCB") will reappear as journalist Mandy Post. Dreama Walker of "Don't Trust the B-- in Apt. 23" is also returning as Zach's older girlfriend, Becca. Becca caused Eli (Alan Cumming) a lot of problems in season two, meaning viewers could be in for more Becca drama.

Zach Woods, who starred as Gabe Lewis on "The Office" will also guest star in the Oct. 6 episode as a character by the name of Jeff Dellinger.

According to TVLine, "Vegas" star Jason O'Mara is also joining the cast as Colin, an Irish defensive attorney who spent 10 years defending gang members and crime families. Colin now wants to go into corporate law, and is looking to join the Lockhart Gardner firm. O'Mara, an Ireland native, has also appeared on "In Justice," "Life on Mars" and "Terra Nova."

Talia Balsam of "Mad Men" and "Homeland" will also be joining the show as a featured guest star. Balsam will be appear early on in season five as a political journalist.

In addition to Balsam, Melissa George of "Hunted" and "Alias" has joined the show to play the recurring role of Marilyn, Governor Florrick's in-house ethics counsel. Zach Grenier, who plays David Lee, has also been upped to a series regular. Gary Cole, John Noble, America Ferrera and Emmy-nominated Carrie Preston are also returning to the hit CBS show.

"The Good Wife" will resume with Alicia and Cary (Matt Czuchry) getting ready to say goodbye to Lockhart Gardner and establish their own law firm.

"The Good Wife" returns to CBS on September 29 at 9 p.m. EST.
