Apple has announced the iPhone 5S, and the media are delivering their initial thoughts on the latest smartphone from Cupertino.

As Latinos Post reported, the iPhone 5S will be available at Apple's official website, Apple Stores, and major mobile carriers on Sept. 20.

The iPhone 5S' starting price will cost the consumer $199 when agreeing to a two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon Wireless.

Early reviews have flooded tech websites and social media about the latest Apple smartphone.

One of the major features on the iPhone 5S is the newly-confirmed fingerprint sensor.

CNET noted, "The optional fingerprint scanner rescues Apple's reputation as a smartphone maker with cutting-edge features that actually influence how people use their phones."

"How did it feel during a brief hands-on session after Apple's event? Surprisingly easy and fast," CNET added. "We were able to have Touch ID scan our fingerprint after about a dozen or so tap-clicks. After the process is done, the scan happens instantaneously: it feels just like clicking a home button. The scan becomes unnoticeable."

The fingerprint sensor allows for multiple finger access, meaning the iPhone 5S owner can store a friend's fingerprint too.

"We watched the fingerprint sensor unlock the phone quickly and easily (though we didn't get to try it ourselves), but presumably these were ideal conditions with iPhones that were fully acclimated to their handlers," wrote The Verge's Dieter Bohn. "That's not to say we don't think the fingerprint will be a great and fast experience for most users - Apple has clearly put more effort into this sensor than the failures we've seen on some Android phones - but we can't vouch for it until we've tried it ourselves."

GSMArena wrote about the battery life of the iPhone 5S, putting a spin on the fact it shares the same numbers as the iPhone 5.

"The iPhone 5s will offer 10 hours of 3G talk time, up to 250h of standby, up to 40h of music playback. These numbers are the same as on the last year's iPhone 5, which is a nice achievement, considering the twice as fast CPU and GPU," GSM reported.

According to Apple Insider, the iPhone5S maintained being "light in the hand."

"Dimensions are identical to the outgoing flagship handset, though we were once again surprised by the device's heft, or more specifically lack thereof," wrote Apple Insider. "While light in the hand, the structure is just as solid as the iPhone 5, with similar button and switch feel."

In regards to the much-talked-about Touch ID, Apple Insider noted the module is not obtrusive and "blends in nicely" with the iPhone's "sleek lines."

Microsoft, with its Windows Phone mobile operating system, indirectly referenced the latest Apple smartphone on Twitter (see below).
