The Motorola Moto X was recently released to AT&T and Verizon, and now it looks like Sprint owners now have the chance to obtain the customizable smartphone beginning on Friday, Sept 6. Sprint owners will not have access to the Motor Maker feature that allows users to fully customize their device online and have it shipped to their door, but the feature will be available in several months, according to Motorola's press release, obtained by Engadget:

"Moto X, the first smartphone designed, engineered and assembled in the United States, will be available from Sprint (NYSE: S) beginning Friday, Sept. 6. Available in woven black and woven white for $199.99 (excluding taxes) with a new line or eligible upgrade and two-year service agreement, customers can order Moto X (16GB version) at Sprint Stores, Business Sales, Web Sales (www.sprint.com) and Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1). For a limited time only, new customers who switch their phone number to Sprint from another carrier will receive an additional $100 instant credit, reducing the price of Moto X to $99.99 (excluding taxes). In the coming months, Sprint will also add the ability to customize Moto X with Moto Maker. With more than 2,000 possibilities to choose from, customers can design a phone that's uniquely theirs from the front to the back, to the accents, the wallpaper, the memory and even pair it with matching accessories."

The device certainly is less appealing if users cannot build their own Moto X initially on Sprint, but buying the device for half price is definitely an intriguing offer. Vice President of product development for Sprint, David Owens, had this to say about the Moto X coming to the service provider:

"Moto X is the first smartphone that can respond to your specific needs with features like Touchless Control, Active Display and Quick Capture ... We expect customers to quickly become hooked on Touchless Control because of its ease and convenience for everyday tasks like locating the nearest gas station, ordering a pizza or searching the Web for sports updates. Sprint ensures that our customers can use Moto X to its fullest potential without having to worry about overage fees on their wireless bill."

Currently, only AT&T users are able to access the full range of options for the Moto X, but that looks like it is going to change soon. Look out for more Moto X news as the device continues to roll out to new service providers and others get full access to the device.
