Metal Gear Solid 5 has been one of the more interesting games in recent memory, partially because of series creator Hideo Kojima's unique and strange practices and strategies when it comes to promoting his products and the stories of the Metal Gear Solid series. But now Kojima has revealed to his Twitter followers in multiple posts some strange logic for the design of some of the characters in Metal Gear Solid 5. He revealed that developers redesigned characters to make them look more erotic, so that the characters will be popular cosplay choices and raise the profile of the game.

"I've been ordering to Yoji to make the character more erotic, and he did it well. Recently I've been making characters this way ... I create the setting thoroughly, how he/she spent early life, name, style, favorite phrase, fashion, action to stand the character out ...The initial target is to make u want to do cosplay or its figurine to sell well," said Game Director Kojima.

However, Kojima was not done yet with his cosplay plans. He revealed that he will unveil the "CG Data" for the character Quiet at midnight on Sept. 6, with the developer asking users to get their costumes ready for the Tokyo Game Show, although he warned "this one may not be cosplayable."

This announcement is certainly strange, all things considered. The focus on creating an attractive, barely clothed female character in a game is hardly original, but to hear Kojima pay so much attention to including such a character is unsettling. After all, this is coming from the legendary Hideo Kojima. And it's for the latest entry into the Metal Gear Solid franchise, a series that prides itself on complex characters and deep storylines, not cheap visuals and bikini clad women. Readers may expect this kind of tactic for smaller budgeted or lesser known titles like Bayonetta or Lollipop Chainsaw, but not from a long-running and critically acclaimed series such as Metal Gear Solid.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is not the only Metal Gear Solid game coming soon to gamers. Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will act as a prequel to The Phantom Pain, however, it is unclear if this will be a full game or a download title. Both games are expected on current-gen consoles and not the next-gen Xbox One or PlayStation 4. No release date has been provided yet for the game, so keep check back here to find out more about Metal Gear Solid 5.
