The poster to Ridley Scott's "The Counselor" has been released.

The poster features the five main characters of the film in various different color palettes. "The Counselor" features the first screenplay written by acclaimed author Cormac McCarthy and tells the story of a lawyer who finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in the drug trafficking business.

The film boasts one of the most impressive casts of the year with Michael Fassbender as a lawyer and Penelope Cruz as his fiancée. Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt also star in the movie as dangerous criminals of the underworld.

"The Counselor" was once seen as a potential Oscar nominee, but considering it skipped the festival circuit, many pundits are doubtful the film will be an awards contender. Additionally, aside from early screenings that praised Diaz and Bardem, critics have yet to see the film.

However, if the movie scores rave reviews, there is still a possibility it could score Oscar nominations. In recent years several nominees have skipped the festival circuit and still received Best Picture nominations: "Django Unchained," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Avatar," "The Blind Side," "True Grit" and "Zero Dark Thirty."

"The Counselor" is directed by Ridley Scott, who will dedicate the film to his brother Tony Scott who committed suicide this past summer. Ridley Scott is best known for his work on "Blade Runner," "Gladiator" and "American Gangster."

"The Counselor" also stars Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo, Natalie Dormer, Bruno Ganz, Goran Visnjic and Dean Morris. 20th Century Fox will release the movie on Oct. 25.
