Saints Row 4 has been a hit for publisher Deep Silver, who acquired the rights to the series in the THQ bankruptcy sale. Fans of the series have quickly picked up the game, and while some may be focused more on the other big open world crime game, Grand Theft Auto 5, Saints Row 4 has managed to wow a fair share of critics and fans alike. Now, new details about the game have emerged now that players have had time to dive into developer Volition's masterpiece.

A easter egg that has been revealed concerns a mission in which the character Asha gets the superpowers that come with the game. This mission turns into a tribute to the Metal Gear Solid series. Enemies get symbols that pop up when surprised, and sounds from the Metal Gear Solid series can be heard throughout. In addition, players get a chance to reenact one of the most iconic Metal gear Solid moves by hiding in a cardboard box and crawl around to stealthily attack enemies.

The second big easter egg is a tribute to the Star Wars universe, specifically bounty hunter Boba Fett. Players can buy the Ransom Collector outfit, which looks very close to the armor of the bounty hunter. In addition, a secret room in the Let's Pretend store in the game has a weapon called the Loud Locust, which is a tribute to the weapon Will Smith uses in the original Men in Black movie. Users can access the weapon by going to Let's Pretend store, blasting open the door marked employees only, and finding the weapon in a secret shooting gallery. One last easter egg is vice president Keith David mentioning that he plays Dead Island, another Deep Silver game.

A spoiler heavy secret that has come out about the game is the two alternative endings that the game comes with. The player has to complete the six loyalty missions that the player's crew has before the final mission of the game. If players complete all the missions, Zinyak's former assistant reveals that the Zin have a time travel machine, and the Saints vow to travel through time, revealing a possible plot device for Saints Row 5. However, if players do not complete the loyalty missions before completing the final mission, then a cutscene shows the leader of the Saints suggesting that it is time to conquer another planet and restore Earth after the destruction the Zin have brought to the planet.
