A Pokémon from the upcoming sixth-generation of the franchise has made its anime debut in Japan.

The dual Flying-and-Dragon-type Pokémon Noivern was revealed during the Aug. 15 broadcast on TV Tokyo under the ownership of journalist Alexa, a native from the Kalos region and sister of new Gym Leader Viola.

The episode features Alexa, Ash Ketchum, Cilan, and Iris visiting what appears to be an ancient temple, as the journalist wants to learn more about a legendary story seen in a book.

Upon visiting the temple, Banette and Gengar appear. To combat the Ghost-type Pokémon, Alexa reveals she owns a Noivern. The sixth-generation Pokémon easily defeats Banette and Gengar but turns its attention to Meowth and its gold coin on its head.

In terms of a U.S. airdate, the anime series in Japan is approximately 100 days ahead of its Cartoon Network premiere. Therefore, the episode might debut by late November or December.

Noivern has been confirmed for "Pokémon X and Y," which has been confirmed for an Oct. 12 release date exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
