The new season of "Revenge" will take viewers back to the Hamptons with a new blend of salacious and scandalous plot lines. The show will feature streamlined plots that harken back to the style of season one after a second season that fell short of viewers' expectations.

TVLine reports that the new season will feature the departure of a character, which may add a surprising element to the plot later on.

Actress Ashley Madekwe publicly said that she wanted her character, Ashley Davenport, to "die in a blaze of glory." However, showrunner Sunil Nayar said that Ashley Davenport, who is leaving the show on its September 29 premiere, will not be killed off, leaving room for her to come back with a vengeance.

"We're not killing her," Nayar said. "We'd never do that! She's too great a character. As sad as we are to bid her farewell at the moment, you'll see that the way we resolve her storyline now gives her an opportunity to come back with her own revenge agenda."

The season premiere will also feature a rare moment of Emily (Emily VanCamp) and her sworn enemy, Victoria, (Madeleine Stowe) getting along, albeit just for a moment. VanCamp spoke about the unusual scene.

"We have a moment where we actually band together," VanCamp revealed.

"Of course, like most of the truces forged by the sworn enemies, this one is short-lived. We put up this united front and then, after whatever it is is taken care of, it's like, 'OK, I'm outta here,'" VanCamp said, laughingly. "But it's nice to be able to play something [civil] with Madeleine [Stowe] because [Emily and Victoria] are always at odds each other. And I hate it because I love Madeline so much. We're so evil to each other."

The season premiere will also include a flash forward to the day of Emily's wedding. Although it is not clear who the groom is, a promo for the series shows Emily being shot in the stomach, then falling off a boat headlong into the water.

The promo also showed a shirtless Justin Hartley, ("Emily M.D.") who is joining the show as Victoria's long-lost son.

The third season premieres Sunday, September 29 on ABC.
