The HTC One family will expand again by the end of the year, as the HTC One Max is expected to be released in 2013, giving the HTC line a entrant into the so-called "phablet" market.

The HTC One Max will compete with other tablet-like smartphones like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and now new details have emerged about the device and how HTC plans to market the massive phone versus its competition.

The biggest new leak about the HTC One Max comes from Phonearenawhich shows the HTC One Max next to other devices in the One lineup, revealing that the device will have a fingerprint sensor. This feature is seen on the back of the device in the photo leak, and a close up of the feature is also shown.

The fingerprint sensor will allow users to lock and unlock their device using only their fingerprint, so users can rest assured that their data and personal information will remain secure. The HTC One Max will also protect your secrets if the phone is stolen; that is, unless the thief steals a thumb along with the phablet. A fingerprint sensor is also a rumored feature on the upcoming Apple iPhone 5S, so perhaps this technology will soon become the norm for high-end smartphones in the future.

Another key feature revealed in Phonearena's leak is what appears to be a dock connector for the HTC One Max, which could lead to several possibilities in terms of what the device will be able to do alongside other devices or equipment.

As is usually the case for phablets, the rumored specs for the HTC One Max are quite impressive. The most notable feature of the device is the display, which comes in at 5.9 inches and uses Full HD. In comparison, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra has a display of 6.4 inches and the regular HTC One has a 4.7 inch display. A 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM is rumored to power the device, giving the phablet comparable processing power to other high-end smartphones on the market. The device will also allegedly have a Megapixel camera for photos and video, and the device is rumored to have a Micro SD card slot for expanding the memory.

The HTC One Max is expected in the fourth quarter of 2013, so look out for more specs and release date rumors concerning the device as the summer winds down.
