The end is here. After a long, blood-soaked summer, the season six finale of HBO’s vampire drama “True Blood” has finally arrived. A lot has happened to everyone’s favorite vampires and faeries in the season’s past nine episodes. From mass murdering their human captors at Vamp Camp to agreeing to become a vampire bride, the vampires, faeries and humans of Bon Temps have certainly kept busy.

In the last episode of “True Blood,” entitled “Life Matters,” things got a bit deadlier for the humans captors at Vamp Camp as Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) released the vampires in captivity. But the humans weren’t the only ones to meet their demise.

Erik also made sure to kill Steve Newlin (Michael McMillon) by burning him in the sun, but not before Steve declared, “I love you Jason Stackhouse!” Steve’s death may have been bloody, but at least it wasn’t as gruesome as Dr. Overlark (John Fleck), who had his penis ripped off by Eric and his head stomped on by Bill (Steven Moyer).

After the vampires achieved their freedom, Bill received a visit from Lillith’s sirens, who tried to lure him away from Earth. Meanwhile, back in Bon Temps, Sookie and her neighbors honored Terry’s (Todd Lowe) at his funeral.

If fans thought that the season’s ninth episode was jam-packed with exciting vampire goodness, there’s plenty more for the season finale. According to the episode’s logline, “Bill discovers salvation comes at a price; Jason (Ryan Kwanten) senses a vampire attraction firsthand. Sookie (Anna Paquin) examines her future with Warlow (Rob Kazinsk), while Bon Temps braces itself when a new crisis threatens both humans and vampires.”

What could possibly hit Bon Temps that would affect both its human and vampire population? A new virus? Or perhaps a new magical creature?

As an added tidbit, showrunner Brian Buckner also spilled to Entertainment Weekly that vamp hottie Eric has a “sexy and provocative” scene in tonight’s finale. “There’s definitely something for the ladies and the gay men,” Buckner said. “We might see a certain body part.”

“True Blood” season 6 finale airs tonight, August 18 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
