Bryan Cranston has responded to the rumors about playing Lex Luthor in "Batman vs. Superman."

"The Breaking Bad" actor told Metro that was interested in playing the iconic role and that he loved the character. He stated, "Give me a call. I like Lex Luthor. I think he's misunderstood. He's a loveable, sweet man."

The rumor began last week after Latino Review's El Mayimbe posted several Twitter comments that hinted Cranston was Warner Bros.' first choice for the role of Lex Luthor. The Twitter comments stated: "Actor for Lex is so painfully obvious/on the nose, u wouldn't believe me even if I told you. Hell, I don't believe it myself. Take a guess?"

The blogger followed the comment up with three Tweets that stated, "FANBOY BLIND ITEM: Which superhot actor finishing final season of hit TV show who also was in 2 films for WB is up for juicy badguy part? :) ... In fact, this actor is in this studio's tentpole which comes out next summer. :)." The last post stated, "FINAL CLUE FOR Y'ALL FANBOY KNUCKLEHEADS WHO CAN'T TAKE A HINT: This actor played a bad guy (embarrassed that he did) on the POWER RANGERS."

Over the past few weeks rumors of who will play Batman have also surfaced across the web with many picking Matthew Goode, Ryan Gosling, Orlando Bloom and Josh Brolin as the front runners to play Bruce Wayne.

"Batman vs. Superman" is currently in pre-production with Zack Snyder slated to direct. Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will reprise their roles from "Man of Steel" while Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven will produce. Warner Bros. will release the movie in 2015.
