Tiger Woods' week keeps getting worse after finishing in 40th place at the PGA Championship, with his $44.5 million Florida home slowly sinking into the ground.

Woods, who extended his majors drought to 18 - 14 shots out of the lead, returned to find his palatial 10,000-square-foot waterfront mansion in Jupiter Island, Fla., sinking due to the state's soft soil that contains organic materials that decompose over the years. Woods and girlfriend Lindsey Vonn noticed the problem after seeing cracks in the walls and doors rubbing along the ground.

"This sort of thing occurs quite a bit in Florida," said Skip Barrett of South Coast Foundation Systems to Gossip Extra. "In Florida, the soil has layers of organic matter that eventually decomposes. Once that happens, many homes start sinking."

Woods purchased the Jupiter Island property in 2006 for $44.5 million and has hired contractors, who have started to stabilize the home with helical piles - giants screws inserted into the ground as far as 24-feet deep and help to stabilize the mansion. Contractors estimate the helical piles can run up to $1,000 apiece.

Woods repairs should keep his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, happy considering that she owns a $54 million-mortgage on the house.
