The Moto X phone has caused quite a lot of attention ahead of the phone's expected release date in August and September. However, the device will only be available in the United States, which has caused some international backlash against the device. In addition, some critics and smartphone users have complained that the specs for the phone are not up to par to some of the latest smartphones available on the market. Now Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside, in an interview with AllThingsD has addressed some concerns about the highly customizable Moto X, explaining that the company chose to be different in order to please more people:

"We made some different choices from our competitors...We were thinking about the total user experience."

Woodside also explained the choice of screen for the Moto X, which is only 4.7 inches and does not have full HD capabilities. The CEO dismisses the debate about having giant screens and full HD, saying that the Moto X's resolution and screen size is perfect for one handed use, which was the plan for the smartphone from the beginning:

"Beyond 720p - unless you have the vision of a hawk - you aren't going to notice much of a difference,"

The CEO insists that the phone is not a mere mid range phone with an expensive price tag (the phone is available for $199 with a two year commitment plan from a provider). Motorola invested in always on voice recognition and the ability to share information on the device without having to unlock the phone. In other areas the phone is as good or better as rival devices, which was Motorola's plan from the beginning, according to Woodside:

"Where we chose to optimize, we are getting what we want out of the device,"

The big selling point of the Moto X is that the device will be fully customizable. Those looking to buy the Moto X can design their own device from the ground up, changing the color and other aspects of the device on Motorola's website. The company has opened a new plant in Texas to handle all these custom orders, with the idea that no matter where users order their Moto X from the company will have the phone at your door in four days time. AT&T users will be the first to get their hands on the device, with other major providers such as Sprint and Verizon getting the device later in the coming weeks.
