The film that got audiences all hot-and-bothered will soon be a stripping spectacle on the Great White Way. Broadway-goers will soon be treated to a steamy, live musical version of "Magic Mike," the 2012 film starring Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer. According to E! Online, Channing Tatum confirmed via Twitter on July 22 that "Magic Mike: The Musical" is indeed happening.

Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, the songwriters behind the critically acclaimed musical "Next to Normal," will be writing the songs for the "The Full Monty"-esque musical adaptation. Additionally, "Glee" writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will be writing the book of the play. It is not known whether Channing Tatum will be performing in the musical, but it was confirmed that he will be one of the musical's producers. Steven Soderbergh, the director of the movie, also signed on as a producer along with Gregory Jacobs, Reid Carolin and Nick Wechsler.

The film that inspired the musical is based upon Tatum's real-life experiences working as a male stripper in Tampa, Florida. The film tells the story of aimless 19-year-old, Adam (Alex Pettyfer) who is brought into the world of male stripping by his veteran stripper friend, Mike "Magic Mike" Lane (Channing Tatum). Mike is a stripping mentor of sorts; he teaches Adam the "art" of stripping and how to pick up women, much to Adam's sister's (Cody Horn) chagrin.

And that's not all-- "Magic Mike: The Musical" is just the frosting on the man-cake. According to E! Online, Channing confirmed in July 2012 that a "Magic Mike" sequel or prequel is planned. "We're working on the concept now," Channing said in an interview with Glamour UK. He also added, "We want to flip the script and make it bigger."

This July, Soderbergh said that the Magic Mike sequel (or prequel) was "getting pretty far along." Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello have both hinted that they may be involved in the film's production.

So far, there has not been an announcement regarding the musical's cast, creative team, theater location or dates.
