Slowly but surely, hordes of zombies limp their way toward return of "The Walking Dead." Behind they leave a trail of torn sleeves and warm blood, leaving traces of their terrifying march. Fortunately for fans, they can use the trail to find details on the upcoming season.
In a new video featuring "The Walking Dead" cast and creators, fans are informed of a new threat that will be "one-upping" the story from last year. As if the walkers weren't enough, there will be even more danger lurking around every corner. This year will feature a "deeper," "darker" and "bigger story" and will host a variety of shocking new elements.
One key difference that the cast shares is the prison. It will be upgraded to feature a farm as an increasingly large group tries to make the prison feel less like, well, a prison. Check out the video below.
The new season will return to the prison that we've come to know and love, but with the extra twist. "We're trying to form better conditions for the survivors at the prison," designer Grace Walker said in an earlier interview. "We figured because we had a lot more people coming in - like the people coming from Woodbury - that the cellblocks were starting to overflow, so we made more room for them. We had to have better shelter, and conditions where they can now eat outside."
As producer David Alpert previously stated, season 4 is "going to be bigger, better, meaner. I think we saw the evolution of the threat. I think sort of as society begins to come back together and disintegrate at the same time, there's going to be more of [the threat of man]... We're going to explore those themes in ways that have yet to be explored. We're going to get a whole new direction coming up in season 4."
"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC on October 13.
