New gameplay footage has surfaced for "Pokémon X and Y" courtesy of the franchise's Japanese sideshow "Pokémon Smash."

The variety show, which airs weekly in Japan, showcased the two new legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal.

As Latinos Post reported, the types for Xerneas and Yveltal have been confirmed. Xerneas is a full Fairy-type Pokémon, while Yveltal is a dual Dark-and-Flying type.

Back to "Pokémon Smash." The show featured two double battles. The first involves Xerneas teaming up with fellow new sixth-generation Pokémon, Sylveon. The battle then transitions into a one-on-one battle between Xerneas and Dragonite.

The attention then shifts to Yveltal, who teams up with Umbreon in its double battle footage. Yveltal is seen using its signature Oblivion Wing move in the double battle as well as its single battle with Dragonite.

The gameplay footage comes as "Pokémon Smash" also presented video on wild Pokémon encounters. Latinos Post reported on July 23, with "Smash" presenters showing Froakie battle Fletchling and Honedge against Octillery and Inkay.

A preview for the next anime season based on the sixth generation was also revealed. As Latinos Post reported, the preview for the next anime season featured Ash Ketchum arriving in the Kalos region with his Pikachu. Based on the short clip, he is seen without current "Pokémon Black and White" traveling friends Cilan and Iris. The "Pokémon X and Y" anime season is set to start in Japan on Oct. 17, five days after the worldwide release of the sixth-generation video games. U.S. fans might see the new season by early February 2014, although that is based on the current number of days that separate the Japanese and U.S. anime airdates.

"Pokémon X and Y" is set for a worldwide release on Oct. 12, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
