Zac Efron auditioned for the upcoming "Star Wars Episode VII."

Latino Review is reporting that Efron auditioned for a role in the upcoming installment but was not sure for what role. The publication stated, "As for what role Efron would be playing, we don't know. He could be a Solo kid."

The possibility of Efron joining the cast of the new film is very likely because the actor was discovered by Disney when he was cast in the lead role for the studio's "High School Musical" franchise.

However based on his IMDB page, Efron seems very busy as he is linked to two upcoming projects which are still in pre-production. The first one is "You Belong to Me" which currently has no director or writers attached. The second project is "Autobahn" which has director Eran Creevy and actress Amber Heard attached. As a result, Efron would have to complete one or two projects before jumping onboard franchise.

Efron has recently attempted to move into more mature roles. He recently starred in "The Lucky One," the Tribeca selection "At Any Price," and the Golden Globe nominated film "The Paperboy." He will next be seen in "Parkland" with Paul Giamatti, Jackie Earl Haley, and Marcia Gay Harden and in "Townies" with Rose Byrne and Dave Franco. The actor will also be seen in "Are We Officially Dating?" with Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan.

Star Wars Episode VII" will be directed by J.J Abrams and produced Kathleen Kennedy. The film is currently in the casting stages with Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill rumored to reprise their roles from the original trilogy.

Disney is expected to announce more details on the project in August during their annual D23 expo with sources stating that part of the cast will be revealed.

"Star Wars Episode VII" is set for release in 2015 with production slated to begin in 2014.
