In an interview with Post Arcade, Call of Duty: Ghosts executive producer Mark Rubin confirmed some new features for the upcoming game. In line with many of the Xbox One titles demoed at E3 2013, Ghosts will integrate second screen into the multiplayer portion of game.

The second screen features will be handled by Beachhead Studio, the developer behind Call of Duty ELITE.

"We actually have a whole department--a whole studio, basically--wrapped around the idea of second screen. Our Beachhead group is doing a lot of work there," he said.

While Rubin couldn't reveal too many details, he did state that unlike ELITE, the second screen features will not be a paid service, nor will it be monetized.

"It's free. And this is where you have to be smart on your design: You can't make it required, and it can't confer a massive advantage," Rubin said. "There's some balancing that needs to be done. You don't want it so the guy with an iPad has an advantage over other players in multiplayer just because he has the money to buy an iPad.

He reiterated that Activision is viewing this as a way to enhance the Call of Duty experience, not as an extra revenue stream.

"But it will definitely be free, and it will be a companion. It won't be a revenue generator. It will be used to enhance the experience, but not offer any advantages," he said.

Aside from second screen features, Rubin also confirmed that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Ghosts will be nearly identical, and that both are being developed by the same team at Infinity Ward. Interestingly, he also added that gamers who decide to purchase the game on current consoles will also be getting an improved experience, promising, "the current-gen version is getting some graphical boosts and engine improvements, too."

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released on November 5 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
