The Sony Xperia Z is still in the midst of receiving its dosage of Android 4.2.2 around the world, but one avid developer is already on the next page. That's right Xperia Z owners, there's an Android 4.3 ROM available for download.

Thanks to XDA developer Taylor_Swift (this one's from the United Kingdom), Xperia Z owners can head over here to download the 300MB Xperia Z Android 4.3 ROM. The firmware is a port of the leaked Android 4.3 Google Play edition, meaning it's stock Android, although Taylor_Swift does promise versions with Sense, MiUi, Optimus UI, and a "secret one" in the near future.

As with all unofficial ROMS, it's best to stay away from it unless you know what you're doing since missteps can result in the device bricking. Those who do choose to go ahead with the flash are encouraged to report any bugs they encounter to Taylor_Swift for fixing.

This isn't the first handset to get a port of Android 4.3, as both Samsung's Galaxy S4 and HTC's One smartphones have also gotten ROMs of their own. Interestingly enough, Google's own Nexus 4 handset seems to have been left out of the loop, although that could be because Android 4.3 is expected to officially roll out over the next couple months.

Android 4.3 isn't a huge refresh to the operating system experience, which is rumored to arrive with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie sometime in the fall. Little is known about the next Android version except that it should help boost interest in Android before the busy fall holiday shopping season.

Let us know if you try out the Android 4.3 ROM from Taylor_Swift on your Xperia Z and what you think of it in the comments section below.
