Call of Duty Ghosts may be getting a co-op mode, but what that mode may be like remains a mystery. Candice Capen, the community coordinator for the game's developer Infinity Ward, confirmed that a co-op mode for the game does exist via Twitter, but refused to go into any detail:

"We'll have a cooperative mode of sort, but we're not announcing it yet and I've no clue when/if we will."

Capen also indicated that the co-op mode will not be Spec Ops, meaning that the developer may have a brand-new mode they wish to debut in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

So what could the new co-op mode be, if not Spec Ops? One possibility is the game boarding the tablet connectivity bandwagon, which many next-gen games are experimenting with. This would allow gamers to drop into one of their friend's game and help them out during a mission. Perhaps the tablet user could control Riley, the popular dog character that has taken the internet  by storm since the game's debut in May. Another possibility is that the second player could control Riley full time with a standard controller, instead of having one player switch between the human and dog character. A third possibility could be a command mode-like game, similar to the feature that will be in Battlefield 4, only for the single-player campaign instead of a 64 player deathmatch.

In any case, Call of Duty: Ghosts figures to be a smash hit when it comes out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC November 5, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game in the works as well. Infinity Ward has also revealed the preorder bonus map for the game, which will take place inside a collapsing skyscraper. Look out for more Call of Duty: Ghosts news as we get closer to the game's release date.
