If a new report is true then Samsung Galaxy S3 owners worldwide might have to wait much longer than previously thought for an Android 4.2.2 update.

According to some reports floating around the web, such as this one, Samsung might wait until November to release Android 4.2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S3. The upgrade, which was expected in June, has reportedly been delayed due to issues in porting over the Galaxy S4's TouchWiz interface. But that's not the reason why it could take so long.

Even with TouchWiz-induced delays, Samsung was still presumed to roll out Android 4.2.2 for the Galaxy S3 sometime in July or August. A recently-leaked Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2 build shows that Samsung is close to completion on the project, so why wait until November?

It all has to do with Samsung Galaxy S4 sales. The handset, which launched to record sales, has slowed down in the market, leading many to believe that Samsung will wait until a new version of Android, possibly Android 5.0 Key Lime hits the Galaxy S4 before upgrading older flagships like the Galaxy S3. This way, consumers will then have to choose between a Galaxy S4 with Android 5.0 or a Galaxy S3 with Android 4.2.2, instead of the (potentially) current matchup of a Galaxy S4 with Android 4.2.2 versus a Galaxy S3 with Android 4.2.2.

Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie has been tipped for a fall release.

Bear in mind that none of the reports concerning this little bit of speculation have been confirmed, so treat as such: speculation. Still, it's an interesting mindset, and one that could boost Samsung Galaxy S4 sales. It might also backfire and lead thousands of angry Galaxy S3 owners away to other companies such as Sony and HTC, who are attempting to get Android 4.2.2 up and running on their popular phones.

What do you think? Will Samsung employ this strategy, or show a little more kindness to Galaxy S3s everywhere? Let us know in the comments section below.
