From zero to 60 in 3.8 seconds - that's how much power the Chevrolet 2014 Corvet Stingray is packing under its seventh generation hood when it is officially released to dealerships this September.

According to the LA Times, this peak performance for the C7 could be achieved through the optional Z51 Performance Package, a $2,800 pack on top of the car's base price of $51,995.

But even without the optional Z51 package, the stock Stingray is still very powerful. According to Jalopnik, stock specs include:

  • 455 Hp
  • 460 lb-ft torque
  • 6.2L V8 engine
  • Better than 26 MPG on the highway
  • Rev-match technology

The seventh iteration of "America's Sports Car" comes in two variations: a hatchback coupe and a convertible. However, Consumer Guide speculates that updated editions to these variations should follow upon release, and Grand Sport models may also be introduced.

It also assesses the C7 as "all-new, yet unmistakably Vette... [with a] movie car's styling flavor," which it relates to the Autobot Sideswipe concept that appeared in the 2009 film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

The LA Times says the 2014 Corvette Stingray is quite remarkable for its modest asking price and lower power output, which compares to the $400,000 Lexus LFA.

Among the standard equipment on each 2014 Corvette Stingray include:

  • Carbon-fiber hood
  • Carbon-fiber roof panel (removable), for the core hatchback coupe
  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 9-speaker Bose stereo
  • LED daytime running lights
  • Sirius satellite radio
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • 8-Way power seats

Consumer Guide's pre-release assessment of the next generation Corvette Stingray is positive, saying it "reaffirms GM's commitment to 'America's Sports Car.'" The foremost facets of the new car are its avant-garde technology, superior fuel-efficiency and performance, and upgraded exterior with an "edgy, post-modern styling."

It also calls the 2014 Corvette Stingray "a legend reborn for the brave new automotive world of today and, more importantly, tomorrow."

The full vehicle specs are available on the car's media page in the Chevrolet website, and discussions regarding the upcoming release of the car are ongoing at Corvette 7 forums.
