HTC One owners were supposed to be in for a very special treat today. If the reports are correct, then an Android 4.2.2 update for the flagship smartphone that was supposed to roll out today, June 12, could be delayed until later this week.

HTC's ambassador to France, Yves Wi posted this on Twitter, yesterday, June 11, claiming the update would come today:

"#HTCOne Update (OTA) coming tomorrow to 2.x version (4.2.2 and Sense 5)," Wi said.

Wi isn't the only one who believes the update will begin rolling out today. Noted HTC mod community figure @LlabTooFeR agreed with the HTC exec, even going as far as to name the Android 4.2.2 build version.

"@Rage06, Yep, I think so...In my view it will be 2.18.401.1..." @LlabTooFeR tweeted in response to a question from a fellow Twitter user concerning the validity of Wi's statement.

Sadly, Both Wii and @LlabTooFer have changed their minds.

The update could be delayed until as late as Friday, @LlabTooFeR said in another tweet.

This isn't the first time that we've heard of the HTC One getting Android 4.2.2 soon. Head of HTC Russia Andrey Kormiltsev said in an earlier tweet that Android 4.2.2 is planned for a mid-June OTA launch. Modder @LlabTooFeR has stated that the new Sense UI will be Sense 5.1

If all the ducks line up, then HTC Ones around the globe should see Android 4.2.2 incredibly soon. So far, at the time of this article, there are no reports on users actually receiving the update. Android update rollouts are staggered, so even if the update does become available today, there's a good chance it will be in a select few regions. Naturally, as the weeks progress, more areas around the world will receive Android 4.2.2.

Let us know if you begin receiving an Android 4.2.2 with an upgraded Sense 5.1 UI and where you are located.
